Hello,
Check out what's new on Tennis Oxygen!
New Instructional Video:
The Inside In-Inside Out Forehand Part Two: Strategy & Patterns of Play.
We have all seen how Rafa and Roger rack up easy winner after easy winner. But, what is often not payed attention to is how they were able to find themselves in such great positions on the court to be able to hit such an easy winner. In the second installment of the Inside In-Inside Out Forehand Video Analysis, I look at the strategy and patterns of play behind this effective finishing shot.
Featured Article:
Check out the featured article on the home page by ATP World Tour player Dmitry Tursunov on how to break a tennis racquet!
Excerpt from the article:
"Do not throw the racket. “I think it’s best not to throw it. If you hold on to it, you feel more in control, it’s really you smashing the racket, you can feel it breaking, you can feel the vibrations and the force down your arm. Also, if you throw your racket across the court, and it doesn’t break, and there’s only a scratch on it, then you are going to feel like an idiot when you walk over to pick it up. If it looks like you want to break your racket, then you have to do it.”
Dmitry Tursunov is one of the funniest guys on the ATP tour, if you are on Twitter follow him @tursunovtales.

Australian Open Preview:
Are you excited about the Australian Open? I absolutely am. I'm looking forward to multiple questions being answered during the next two weeks.
Will Novak repeat?
Is Rafa healthy? Will his serve hinder his chances?
Can Roger carry over his momentum from the end of the 2011 season?
Will Ivan Lendl help Andy Murray win his first Grand Slam?
Yes I am a dork, I actually watched the live drawing (online) of the men’s draw. To be honest with you it was not very exciting since the placement of the main draw players was computer generated, so with one click of the mouse the field was set. The placement of the seeded players however had a little more drama as former Grand Slam winner and native son, Neale Fraser drew the names manually.
Men's draw analyisis:
The top half of the draw is the toughest one of the two by far with Djokovic, Murray, Ferrer, Tsonga, Tipsarevic and Monfils.
On the bottom half of the draw Nadal should cruise to the Semi-Finals expect for a possible upset by Isner in the round of sixteen.
Federer also has a great shot at reaching the semis but will have an interesting round of sixteen against Dolgopolov.
Andy Murray’s road back to the finals for a third straight year won’t be an easy one. Murray will have his hands full with Monfils in the round of sixteen, Tsonga in the quarters and Djokovic in the semis.
Mardy Fish will have a tricky first round against Gilles Muller then if he pervails things won't get any easier where he will potentially meet comeback player of the year and good friend, Juan Martin del Potro. If he wins that match Federer awaits him in the quarters.
Women's draw analysis:
I can't begin to analyze the women's draw since the field is so wide open. Picking a winner on the women's side of the draw is like predicting the weather!
I can't believe they seeded both Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters according to their current rankings of twelve and eleven. They should be both seeded at least in the top five.
Wozniacki has not shown any signs that she can break through and win a Grand Slam yet. Plus with her current wrist injury things don't look too promising.
I can see Azaranka making it to the finals and beating Serena Williams for the title since both Wozniaki And Clijsters are both not 100%.
Serena should make it to the finals should she get past Stosur in the semi-finals.
Early matches I look forward to watching:
If, and only if, Andy Roddick does not get upset in the first round by Robin Haase, his third round match against Milos Raonic should be a very entertaining one featuring the two biggest serves in the game today.
Eighth seed, Fernando Verdasco is up against home crowd favorite Bernard Tomic that should have plenty of drama.
If you like one-handed backhands like me, make sure you tune into a potential third round match between Wawrinka and Almangro.
My Australian Open Picks:
Men's Winner: Novak Djokovic
Women's Winner: Victoria Azarenka
Big name first round upset Special Men : Verdasco, Chela & Roddick.
Big name first round upset special Women: Sharapova, Stosur.
Dark Horse Man: Juan Martin Del Potro.
Dark Horse Woman: Agnieska Radwanska.
Coverage begins tonight on the Tennis Channel and ESPN2 but keep in mind they are 16 hours ahead of us so set your DVR!
By-the-way funny man Dmitry Tursunov drew the number nine seed Janko Tipsarevic. I am sure he found nothing funny about that!
Have fun watching the Open,
Christophe.
