The Unit Turn or The Coil
The key to an early preparation is not achieved with your racquet but with your shoulders and upper body. You might have heard this action called the “unit turn” when the preparation of the stroke is initiated by your shoulder and feet if you have to run to meet the ball. Your arm should never move independently from your body (extending the arm directly behind you). If you take your racquet all the way back you will have to stop your swing and wait until you can meet the ball hence loosing all racquet head speed need to execute a fluid stroke. The key is......
